Paediatric medicine takes
into consideration all branches of medicine. It deals with
the treatment of developmental disorders, deformities and
illnesses of the juvenile and infant body. In these highly

inpatients as well as outpatients.
Diagnostic procedures and tests for children cover, for
example, sonography, x-ray diagnostic, EEG, bronchoscopy,
gastroscopy, lung function testing, allergometry, the
diagnosis of developmental disorders, MRI and CT diagnostic.
Equally available are emergency medical aid, intensive care,
cardiology, urology, psychiatry and neurology, and, as a
unique feature, therapeutic approaches according to the
holistic principles of Anthroposophical Medicine.
Also inpatient and outpatient care of severely handicapped
children is provided for.
Specialized Hospitals in this field of medicine are the
Marien-Hospital Witten being equipped with a Paediatric
Clinic and the Anthroposophical Gemeinschaftskrankenhaus
Herdecke, offering a “Family Clinic”.
