Summary
The Evang. Huyssens-Stiftung and the
Knappschafts-Krankenhaus, two hospitals in Essen, form the
Kliniken Essen-Mitte since 1995. With 12 departments and 696
beds in total, the Kliniken Essen-Mitte are amongst the biggest
hospitals in Essen. While their range of medical equipment
complies with the highest standards, it is the personal care for
patients’ well-being that forms a profound part of the
hospitals’ philosophy. The medical services offered are
regularly checked by internal and external quality management
measures.
The Kliniken Essen-Mitte are members of the network of health
promoting hospitals (HPH) of the World Health Organisation
(WHO).
Every year around 24,000 inpatients and 34,000 outpatients are
receiving treatment. The emphasis on multidisciplinary tumour
treatment, such as intestinal, prostate and breast cancer
promotes optimal diagnostic and therapy standards, such as
multimodal therapy concepts (combining surgery, chemo-, immune-,
and radiotherapy).
The incorporation of the ATZ – Ambulantes Tumorzentrum Essen
(outpatient tumour centre Essen) – ensures a strong interaction
of inpatient and outpatient medical care.
Additionally to our extraordinary medical services we offer and assist
with interpreter services, 1- or 2-bed room accommodation,
individual dietary services which are provided by our chefs who
are trained in international cuisine, international newspapers
and other customised services for our patients from abroad.
